UPDATES - Baby Obed and Brown Family 8-8-2014

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."
2 Corinthians 1:3,4
(KJV)

I have some WONDERFUL news to share concerning Baby Obed,
and a VERY ENCOURAGING update on the Brown Family!!

UPDATE on Baby Obed

God is hearing your faithful prayers for this precious baby!
The miracle continues to unfold.

Concerning Baby Obed, Sharon, from "Sharon Sharing God", said,
"Let's go for it and pray big!"

And, why shouldn't we?

He invites us to,
"Come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:16

We serve a BIG God,
Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above anything we could ever ask or even think!
Ephesians 3:20

Here is the latest update from Baby Obed's Daddy, Travis:

"We just got back from the cardiologist appointment and I wanted to pass along some more good news…

Obed has yet to start showing symptoms, though she expects him to start by his next follow-up appointment in two weeks. She is very impressed with his weight gain. He now weighs 6lbs 2oz (14% growth) and is 19” long.

She told us that once he starts showing symptoms, he’ll be given two medications (a water pill and another to help retain potassium).  She told us that the surgery may not happen for 3-5 months depending on how he does with the medications!"
-Travis

As I read his words, the only response I could think of was, "PRAISE GOD!"
Can I get one...or a hundred....or a million....amens?
May the praises go up and resound to our Almighty God from all over the world!!

To God be the glory...forever and ever amen!!!!

Remember how we have been praying for NO surgery??
I know it sounded absurd, but around here, we believe in praying BIG, as Sharon said.
We are still believing God that...
Baby Obed is healed and THAT is why he is showing no symptoms!
That there are no symptoms to show.
PRAISE GOD!!
That he will never show any symptoms, because there is nothing wrong with this little guy.
That he will not have to have surgery....not only 3-5 months down the line...
but NEVER.

We limit God by our limited faith.

Jesus' brother James, who was there and witnessed and saw what faith in God can do,
said this, "...ye have not, because ye ask not."  (James 4:2)
Our "having" depends largely upon our "asking".
Our lack of asking stems from our inability to perceive and grasp the unlimited power of our awesome God and who He really is.

Remember Matthew 13:58?
"And He (Jesus) did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief."

It wasn't that Jesus didn't WANT to heal the folks in His hometown.
It wasn't that there weren't sick bodies and tormented souls who lived there.
He didn't do many miracles there because they did not believe.

All they could see was His physical form.
All they could open their minds to was the fact that He was Joseph and Mary's son,
that He was a carpenter, and that He was just an ordinary man.
But, as one of my favorite songs by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound says,
"Jesus Wasn't Any Other Man."

Sometimes, all we see is the problem in front of us.
We can see no farther than the pain and the suffering and the medical diagnoses.

But, Jesus was no ordinary man.
He was...and still IS...GOD.
He suffered untold agony from the blow of the stripes on His body,
just so you and I could be physically and emotionally healed.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon Him;
and with His stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 53:5

We are believing Him and expecting more great news from Baby Obed's direction!!
It is so exciting to see our God in action...confounding the wise and doing the impossible!!

Update on the Brown Family (Accident Victims)

More great news!!
Things seem to be stabilizing and improving for little Makeya and Max Brown!!!

The latest update from their direction indicates the following...

2 year old Max's CT Scan showed blood in the back of his head,
but the surgeon is more concerned, at this point, about the need to try to repair his spinal cord.
He is on antibiotics to treat an infection.
They are hoping it will clear up, so they can perform the operation
of putting a bolt in his spinal cord next week.
He is now on a feeding tube, and he is showing signs of improvement!

Makeya's surgery on Monday involved putting 4 screws in the front of her neck and one bolt in the back.
Last night, they removed her ventilator!!!
Praise God!!
She is responding to questions and was able to give her grandparents a kiss!
What a gift!

The Brown family is pleading for everyone to keep praying,
and they are VERY grateful to everyone who has reached out and shown the love of Jesus to them
during this agonizing ordeal.

Our God is an awesome God, Who is worthy of all of our praise and adoration.
We could never praise Him enough for all He has done.

Please continue to pray for Baby Obed, and Makeya and Max Brown.
Please be in much prayer for Steven and Shyla and the grand-parents and other family members,
especially today,
as they walk the mournful path of laying little 5 year old Quinton to rest.

May God just lift them up and hold them extra-close as they grieve.
The pain in their hearts is truly incomprehensible.

Lastly, I just want to say that I am SO amazed and humbled by the overwhelming love,
kindness, support, comfort, and encouragement you have shown these two families
right here through your comments on this blog,
and through contacting me privately to see what you can do for them.

I am deeply moved by seeing the love of Jesus in action...through YOU.
You surely have demonstrated what it means to be a member of the body of Christ.
You, my sweet friends, are Jesus' hands and His feet.

God bless each and every one of you in a very special way.

  7. Shalom Cheryl. I don't know you ... we have never met ... I have never seen your blog. I don't know this family either. A friend sent this link to me so I sat down to read it ... and I cried. Since we were all resting at home this Sabbath, we gathered all the children together and prayed for the Brown family. As a man who has "officiated" a funeral for a 2-1/2 year old baby girl who was killed in a wreck, I don't have any other words except what our Messiah said ... "I am THE resurrection and the life ...". Shalom to your home, Tom

    1. Bless your heart, Tom! I appreciate your kindness and compassion. I am so sorry for the loss of the precious little girl, too, and I know that had to be one of the hardest things you could ever be called upon to do to preach that funeral. Only the God of all comfort can reach down and heal these places of deep brokenness. I can't thank you enough for your visit and your words of comfort. I am gathering all comments together and passing them on to the Brown family. God bless you!
