And, The Winner of the Doily is.....BOOK GIVEAWAY, and More Christmas Music!!

"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits..."
Psalm 103:1,2
(KJV)

I am sooooooo excited to announce the winner of the grape doily!!!
I could hardly wait for this moment!!!!!!!

Any guesses?

No?

Okay, okay.....I will hold you in suspense no longer!

The winner is......Kalais Ellis!!!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to you, Kalais!!!!!
Please email your mailing address to me as soon as you can,
and we will joyfully get your doily to you in time for Christmas...
our gift to you, homespun with much love!!!!

It is kind of neat....usually when I embark on a crochet project, I have a particular person in mind, and I think of that person the entire time I am working on it.
This time was different.
I made this doily, not having a clue whose hands it would fall into,
yet pouring a lot of love into every stitch.
And, do you know what?
I prayed for you!

So, Kalais, when you get your doily, and you look at it,
it will automatically remind you that...
you are loved!
You are appreciated!
You are special....to God and to me.  :~)
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

December is a month of deep, intense reflection for me.
I suppose it is for all of us, right?
At the start of 2015, God gave me the acronym "PREPARE" as my "one word" for the year.
I talked about it, at length, in this post.

In retrospect, I am thankful to say that throughout this year, my family and I have stayed focused and have learned a lot ton on our journey towards a more minimal, simple life, while faithfully taking the steps contained in that acronym.
Several huge projects, like going through every, single thing in our attic, right down to every shred of paper, and emptying the attic entirely of its contents has now been accomplished and is behind us.
All glory to God, there isn't one, tiny thing in our attic now.
What started out as what seemed like an insurmountable feat has now been accomplished.
Hallelujah!
Projects like this one have been ongoing throughout the year,
and some of them have moved along far more slowly than we would have liked,
but nevertheless, with each completion, we have felt a sense of being one step closer to our goal.
Though we have made great strides, I feel like we still have such a long way to go...
but, we are getting there, by God's grace and by taking one baby step at a time.

(To read other posts on minimalism and our minimizing endeavors, click the following links.)

Throughout 2015, God has tested us and stretched us in ways we could not have before imagined.
Through it all,
we have been downsizing, decluttering, simplifying, and minimizing, in earnest.
I wish I had kept a running count of the actual items we have unloaded this year.
It just feels so good to do this!

And now, we want to include YOU in our joy of unloading!!

How, you say?

Well, by blessing you with books!

This is the way it will work.

In this post, you will see 13 books that now stand in need of a new home.
Each book is very gently-used, readable/usable, and even re-giftable, (unless otherwise stated.)
If you enjoy thrifting, you will be more than happy with the quality of these books.
Some of them will even help you start or continue your own journey towards a simpler life!

As you peruse this post and look at the books we have available,
just decide which book you like the most and would be willing to adopt as your own.
Leave us a comment letting us know, (or you can email us privately, if you prefer),
and whoever comments or emails FIRST asking for a particular book gets that book!
When you comment, list your second and third choices, too,
just in case you don't win your first pick.
USA residents only, and one book per person, please!

It's that easy.

We simply no longer need these books and why keep them,
when they might possibly bless one of you?

Please, don't be shy or hesitate to say what you want...you have not, because you ask not, remember?
(James 4:2)
~Smile~

Once you win your book and provide your contact information,
it will be on its way to you....pronto!!
No strings attached!

So, without further delay, and in no particular order, here are the books that are up for grabs!!!!
Oh, and if you want to read a description of each book before choosing the one you want,

The video above is AMAZING!!!!
Make sure you watch it all the way to the end to see a special message from Piano Guy,
Steven Sharp Nelson.

I don't know about you, but it just blesses my heart to see young people worshiping
the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
It moves me to tears to see their hands raised towards Him in awe and reverence of who He is.
Praise God, He is raising up an army of warriors who are strong and determined to stand for Him!

Last, but not least, just for fun, and in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the
Charlie Brown Christmas Special, (whew....does that make anyone else feel old????)
take a look at how the Piano Guys brought loads of joy to some dear elderly folks!!
Have tissues handy...even though this video is full of joy, it might also wrench some tears!
This is just precious!

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful Christmas season!
We surely are at our house.
The excitement is building,
and how grateful I am that one sweet boy in particular still thinks Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!
Zach is over-the-top anxious for the blessed day to arrive,
and there is no lack of Christmas cheer here!
It doesn't lessen his excitement to know that his birthday comes on December 26th,
just one day after we celebrate Jesus' birth!!!
I will never forget where I was and how I felt 15 years ago during this time!
Our sweet boy was soon to be born, and though I was in labor on Christmas Day,
he didn't arrive on the scene until early the next morning!
I remember how much and how often I thought of Mary during those expectant days,
and how I felt a special closeness and kinship with and empathy for her.

Oh, how I praise God for the awesome gift of His dear Son, Jesus Christ,
and how I praise Him for the amazing gift of our own precious son...
a miracle for whom we had waited 12 1/2 long years!!!

In spite of our trials, God is SO good.
How I love Him, and how I praise Him for every, single blessing He has ever bestowed.
I owe Him my all.
To God be the glory forever and ever!!!

  1. Congratulations to the lovely winner! What a joy for Kalais :) And thank you for having such a beautiful giveaway - you are so kind, my friend.

As I write this I am listening to The Piano Guys Christmas song. My dear Cheryl, I got to hear this song in person when my dad, son, and I went to their Christmas Concert in Utah last year. The three of us love The Piano Guys so my son and I surprised my dad with tickets. We also got to meet them after the concert and oh my, what kind men! They were so sweet to my son and got down on their knees to talk with him {he was only 6 at the time}. You can see the post on my blog here: http://theenchantingrose.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-piano-guys-night-to-remember.html Anyway, sorry for the rabiit trail - it was an incredible performance. I still get chills when I hear this song :)

Your blog is always an encouragement, my friend. Thank you for the lovely posts. Much love and sweet hugs to you!

    1. Oh, dear friend!!! What an amazing experience for you, your husband, and your son! I am so amazed at their talent, and then to find out that they are devout Christians just endeared them even more to my family and me! We haven't seen them in person, just on youtube, but I LOVE their testimony for Christ. What a neat thing that you saw them in person and that they were so kind to your little boy! Oh, that just blesses me so much to hear that! Thank you ever so much for your dear, kind words, for your precious encouragement, and for the constant blessing you are to me. I cannot thank God enough for allowing our paths to cross this year...what a dear blessing! Sending you much love and many hugs!!!!

  5. Hi, Cheryl:
I was also very pregnant at Christmastime with my second. She didn't arrive until after the holidays but I remember the discomfort and feeling how alive the Christmas story was as well!!! I'm entering the giveaway and hoping for the book on sinus Symptoms. God bless your week. You are an inspiration.

    1. Oh, how sweet! You are right, it really makes one feel a closeness to Mary being expectant during that time of the year. I thought of her SO much and how much easier I had it than she did...our precious baby had a nursery all prepared for him and so many modern conveniences, I gave birth in a comfortable hospital environment, etc. I can't imagine all dear Mary went through and the great sacrifices she made to fulfill God's awesome plan, right down to being scorned and spurned by the ones around her because they thought she became pregnant out of wedlock, etc. Bless her dear heart. I can't wait to meet her in Heaven some day! Thank you for your precious, sweet words, dear friend, and the Symptoms book is YOURS!!!! Please just email me your mailing address, we will get your book in the mail to you right away!!! Sending you much love and big hugs!!

  14. Congratulations Kalais!! May Cheryl's lovely crochet, and the heart it represents, cheer your home and heart for years to come!!

Cheryl, I so admire this downsizing that you've done. Do you know, I still have unpacked boxes from our move 3 years ago? Not too proud of that fact. It's hard for me to get rid of stuff, for I attach such sentimental meaning to things. But, after all is said and done, things are things, and they don't last forever. Maybe God is prodding me to *clean up my act* this year?! ;-)

Now, as to the video, you did warn me to have tissues handy. And I needed them. First of all, that song always reminds me of Marty, my granddog. Yes, Snoopy is a beagle, and he's also a scamp - which perfectly sums up my blessed little bundle of furry fun! And, there's just something about that song that reminds me of his joyful heart and his funny little way of strutting his stuff! And then, of course, these dear people reminded me of my mother. To see smiles on the face of these dear ones, well, it warmed my heart. One of the most blessed things we can do is to bring joy to the elderly.

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Thank you, dear Sharon, for your sweet and kind words! They are always such a dear blessing and encouragement to me! :) Let me tell you, it feels GOOD to downsize! And, do you know what? It is addictive!! Once you get into it and see how wonderful it is to shed the excess, you will hardly know when to stop! Especially, when you are blessing others in the process! That is the part that feels the best. :) Oh, that Marty! So adorable is he! Yes, those dear, elderly people reminded me of my own dear parents...it was SO hard to see them both have to be in rehab/nursing home facilities at different times, and it just rips my heart out to see things like this. The Piano Guys are wonderful, aren't they? The are traditional family men who love Jesus! What great role models they are. :) Love and appreciate you, sweet friend.

I absolutely LOVE Casting Crowns "I heard the bells on Christmas Day". Imagine my excitement when our worship band sang that song at church this morning. I am all about the old hymns, but this particular song is so powerful! It always gives me chills!
