About

Hello, my friend!

I'm Cheryl, and I'm so glad you stopped by!
Consider yourself hugged and invited.
Stay as long as you like.
You are always welcome here!

Homespun Devotions is a place where you know that you are loved, regardless.
I promise.

Because unconditional love is exactly what Jesus provides for me...every, single day.
He is my Rock.
My Shelter.
My Refuge.
My Go-to...no matter what I am going through.

Growing up, there were five cherished dreams in my little-girl heart.
  To follow Jesus
  To be a wife
  To be a mother
  To write
To sing

Dream #1 comes true for me every day I live and breathe.
Being His disciple brings the deepest sense of peace.

Dream #2 came true over 28 years ago when
I walked down the aisle, pledged my heart and hand,
and married my best friend, the man of my dreams, and the love of my life.
He is my soul-mate...the completer of who I am.

Together, we thought Dream #3 would soon follow.
God had other plans.
We struggled with infertility, due to my health issues, for over 12 1/2 long years.
I can so relate to the pain and anguish of heart that distresses a woman who cannot conceive.
If you are in that place, my heart goes out to you so much, my friend.
Don't ever lose hope, because God is still on His throne,
and He still hears Hannah-like prayers.

Believe me.
I know.
After many years of praying like Hannah,
God miraculously opened my barren womb for one moment in time,
and He allowed Dream #3 to come true when He sent us a healthy, beyond precious baby boy 16 years ago!!!
All glory be to GOD.
This boy continually blesses us and graces our lives and home
with more love than our hearts can hold.

Writing and singing are so much a part of the whole of who I am.
Bluegrass music runs through my veins and warms my heart.
I miss hearing the familiar ring of Dad's five-string banjo so much it hurts.
I will never hear that sound without thinking of him and longing for him and Mom to still be here.

I point you to no denomination, religious group, or sect.
I point you only to the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ,
where redemption, restoration, healing, and peace still freely and lavishly flow.

Homespun Devotions is His place...a homespun, multicolored quilt of thoughts, stitched together by the common thread of the simplicity of the Gospel.
Thanks for listening to what He places on my heart!
I am so glad you are here.

Sweet comments from you dear readers bring so much brightness to my day.
I hope you'll introduce yourself before you leave!
Let's be friends!

    1. Oh, precious Karen! You are so kind to care and to go to the effort of letting me know! Your comment truly meant the world to me tonight. :) Things have been in a bit of an upheaval lately, and I have just had to step back a bit, to seek the Lord's face and catch my breath! I have been working on a post for several days, and it seems the enemy is fighting it in many ways. I hope to post soon! Much love and appreciation to you, dear friend. :) God bless you!
